So I was browsing through search results in IE8 and I tried to right click and open a link in a new tap. But to my surprise, that option was gone!
I did all the usual tricks. I searched for the question on Google to see if anybody else had similiar issues. (Most complaints were never met with a response to a solution, and those that I could find didn't work) Then I went to Internet Options and checked on all the tab stuff... it was all properly checked and everything. I even restored all my settings to default... nope, didn't solve the issue.
So the next step was more drastic; I upgraded to IE9. When I previously upgraded, I disliked the layout. I guess it's since been changed, and I can live with it so I don't need to switch back to IE8. But lo and behold, the right click open new tab option is still gone.
But there's one add-on that I've consistently kept running: Google toolbar. I use it all the time for quick searches, spell checking, translations, quick links, ext. But just to check, I disabled it. The right click open new tab option reappears.
So my problem isn't stemming from IE, but rather from Google toolbar. This saddens me, because I really like it, but I also like to open links in new tabs. (Ironically, I do this often while searching in google)
Hopefully this is just a minor issue that will get fixed. (I've noticed Google toolbar has brief periods where it's glitching out... probably when they're upgrading it or something) So I'll live with it for now. But if this problem persists... I will be forced to make a sacrifice.
Also, none of this "Use FF instead." For your information, I am not some nosy browser elitist. I already USE Firefox. I also use IE. And sometimes I use Chrome. I've found that some sites work better in different browsers, so I usually have both IE and FF opened, with different sites in each. I'm not going to be some snob and only use one and hate on others because they use something else. (That's for politicians) So keep your comments to yourself.
However, if you know a way around this issue, or have similiar experiences, please share.
