I Just Realized...

Eyru

I'm turning eighteen this summer, meaning the time is drawing very close that I will be able to attend a LEGO convention.

I'm hoping this year, but should it not work out, then definitely next year.

Living in British Columbia, Canada means that Seattle, for example, is not that far away...

From the context, I would assume that he is unable to travel to one until he is eighteen.

And I wish you good luck in your future travel there, Eyru.

My being eighteen has a two-fold effect on my attending a convention: one, travelling as an unaccompanied minor is more difficult than as an adult. Once eighteen, eveything gets a bit easier. :P Second: I don't want to travel cross-border just to attend a convention for one day, and if you want to register for more than just the public day at most conventions you need to be over eighteen. It's the full-meal deal or nothing for this Canadian!

Oh dude, a fellow BCer? Sweet! There's Cascade in Portland this June, but since BrickCon takes place in Octoberish, that makes more sense for you.

Well, to attend the full convention alone you need to be 18 yes, but most allow younger teens if an adult registers with them. However, if you can't get a parent to go with you, then that's a difficulty. (Although we had enough adultish members to look after youngling Velox at last BrickCon, so it's possible.)

I'd be your designated adult chaperone if you come to Portland for Bricks Cascade. You'd already be 18 by BrickCon, though, so phoey.

You kids grow up way too fast.

You guys also had to watch me, Razzy, and Letagi. We would have gotten into all sorts of trouble otherwise, jumping in fountains and all that. :P

Yeah, it'd be great to see another new BZPer at the 'Con. Last year we only had one person show up during public hours so we staged our own meet-and-greet pretending to be other members. I met all sorts of people and posed as Black Six, (but then so did everyone else) Hapori Dume, Sisen, xccj. and the word filter. Thankfully we all knew each other or it would have been a mess. :D
