People still use them, but they aren't as popular. They're sort of like a dead meme (e.g., arrow-to-the-knee jokes): You still see them, but they're rare and not "hip." (The word "hip," by the way, is another example of this phenomenon.)

Also, I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who thought about the inflation of the Weimar Republic's Mark.
