I've had an older Aspire for several years now, and I can honestly say it's a better laptop than my HP Pavilion media center laptop ever pretended to be.

We've had a number of Acer computers in the past (this desktop is a Veriton, and my mom uses a Aspire One netbook). I must say I'm quite fond of Acer, though it is true that they are FULL of bloatware (frankly though, most PCs are nowadays).

See, when I installed Windows 7 over Vista and deleted all the Vista stuff, all the Acer bloatware went away too. :)

Yup, I hear a lot of people do that.

However, I also heard that can cause an issue with some of the WLAN features on this laptop, so I'll probably just uninstall unneeded stuff manually.

Acer should have the appropriate drivers you'd need after a re-install of Windows 7 to get everything working again.

My laptop is an Acer Aspire 6920 and it's been a heck of a trooper since '08. If I didn't have plans to build a PC when I get a job, I'd definitely look into getting another Acer. Solid computers, they are.
