Math Scares Me >>

Nikira

I'm scared of the SAT. :fear: I take it the first week in May, according to my registration ticket, and I am not ready for it...

Rephrase: I'm not ready for the Mathematics portion.

I mean, I just did the practice tests on the College Board website about an hour ago. The Writing Skills and the... uh.. other one (forgot the name...><), I got either 6 or 7 out of 7 correct.

...I only got 3 out of the 7 Mathematics questions correct... none of the geometry ones were right...

Mathmatiks? Ha, so easy. :P

...

Yeah, so easy I can't even splel it. :lookaround:

Anyway, don't freak out, you'll make it through, and even if you don't you can always take it again...and again...and again. Wait, this isn't helping, is it? :P

Good luck! You'll do fine.

Las Matematicas son muy faciles.

:P

I *heart* math. I find it easy... And ya know what? I'm only a high school freshman and I've taken the SATs twice already (Yay for John Hopkin's University! :P ). Though I'm still not sure if it was the full thing. :P

You'll do fine. :) Lol, but if you would like some Geometry help, I'd be willing to help. :P I happen to be taking Geometry right now, so I could even give you the (literal) text book definition of somethin'.

SAT math? Don't worry about it.

The thing is, there is ALWAYS a shortcut. The problems never require the thought you think they do. Any complicated shape can be split into a simpler one. Any huge equation can have most of it canceled out.

All you need to know is the little tricks.

...I don't *heart* math... >< I can do, like, ratios and algebraic stuff, but English is more my subject. :P

But, yeah, Geometry is a hazy subject for me, considering I also took it in the 9th grade. I've, like, totally forgotten everything, though. XD It's sad....

Yeah, I realized that when I took the PSAT last fall. My math score still reeked. >>

I fear my brain is too small and too cramped with random stuff to comprehend such things during test time. But, hey, maybe it'll be different this time around.

I got Algerbra II coming up in 10th grade, though mom assured me that I would learn the basis of Geometry, so I will be ok I hope.

But I am behind in my current subjects a bit, and I am scared of all that SATS, and tests and whatever-you call it. o.o *goes and hides in a box*

You may be scared of math, but I am terrified of it!

Simple math you use in daily life and violinmaking is what I can do, but anything beyond that with funky equations is like talking Martian to me. LOL

Good luck on the SAT, Study hard, and you will get it easy!

Ah, don't worry about the SATs, you'll do fine.

I never took them in this new format but it's a bummer that kids now have to take the new SATs that include a new scoring system and a new written portion (oh no! an extra 45 min-1 hour of testin!?!). Based on what I did to prepare for the old ones, here's what I can say:

> Try looking over a lot of example test questions, try to get into the mind of the people that make these kinds of questions up, if you learn to think like them, then you'll learn to respond to the questions as they would

> Don't be afraid to mark up your test, it won't hurt you. Try to use deductive reasoning, cross out answers that you know can't be right and narrow your choices down as much as possible.

> If you can't figure out the answer and have no idea, don't leave anything blank! Just make a guess, it won't hurt to put something down when you're clueless.

> Get lots of rest the night before the exam, you can't do well on a test when you're exhausted, can you?

> The most imporant thing to remember on the day before the exam: Do abosultely nothing. Take a load off, get your mind away from the thought of the test and relax.

Good luck :)

I don't have to take SATs....

I have to take provincial exams *shudders* but luckily I don't have to do math... but it's English I have to worry about.

Anyways I'm sure you will do fine! Have fun studying to prepare.
