This Is Karzahni?
The Matoran are fine. Really. No worries there. The spiky thing looks interesting. Lots of useful blades there. Karzahni himself...oh dear.
If it wasn't Karzahni, I wouldn't mind so much. But as it is, I dislike it greatly. The Karzahni I had imagined was black and gold, with a mask, standing tall and noble like Brutaka. He's not evil, merely confused. Instead, he's portrayed as a green, hunched, portly animalistic thing.
There is no feature here that I like, unfortunately. Even the style doesn't work. The colour scheme, while not too bad, doesn't fit Karzahni. The head - where's his cool mask? Good use of Pridak feet, but it's not a mask. The arms aren't bad, but they aren't particularly good either. The hands - original use of Ehlek heads, but they just look bulbous and strange. The torso looks empty and the armour makes him look fat. The blades sticking out from under his arms look very odd, and are unecessary IMO. The Nuparu claw - not a good idea. Really. The feet are ok. Nothing special though. The legs are standard Titan legs with Vakama heads stuck on. And he has a squid launcher. Why?
From a MOCing perspective, he's quite good. The dark green and lime pieces are especially noteworthy.
However, what drove Lego to make this a Karzahni set? It looks nothing like him. Yes, he's mutated, but that's a pretty poor excuse. If it was some new character, I wouldn't mind at all. But essentially, this is what happens when you have 'sets first, story later' - the sets look nothing like the characters.
I'm disappointed.
