This Is Karzahni?

This is Karzahni?

The Matoran are fine. Really. No worries there. The spiky thing looks interesting. Lots of useful blades there. Karzahni himself...oh dear.

If it wasn't Karzahni, I wouldn't mind so much. But as it is, I dislike it greatly. The Karzahni I had imagined was black and gold, with a mask, standing tall and noble like Brutaka. He's not evil, merely confused. Instead, he's portrayed as a green, hunched, portly animalistic thing.

There is no feature here that I like, unfortunately. Even the style doesn't work. The colour scheme, while not too bad, doesn't fit Karzahni. The head - where's his cool mask? Good use of Pridak feet, but it's not a mask. The arms aren't bad, but they aren't particularly good either. The hands - original use of Ehlek heads, but they just look bulbous and strange. The torso looks empty and the armour makes him look fat. The blades sticking out from under his arms look very odd, and are unecessary IMO. The Nuparu claw - not a good idea. Really. The feet are ok. Nothing special though. The legs are standard Titan legs with Vakama heads stuck on. And he has a squid launcher. Why?

From a MOCing perspective, he's quite good. The dark green and lime pieces are especially noteworthy.

However, what drove Lego to make this a Karzahni set? It looks nothing like him. Yes, he's mutated, but that's a pretty poor excuse. If it was some new character, I wouldn't mind at all. But essentially, this is what happens when you have 'sets first, story later' - the sets look nothing like the characters.

I'm disappointed.

It was announced that he would receieve a new frm before or after he battle the Big Mak, so I guess this must be it...

Anyway, I like it. i think it's a cool representation of his chaotic element.

Ad...this could just be a protoype. There's always the chance of him being recoloured black & gold...

And redesign him completely. It doesn't resemble my imagined Karzahni in the slightest. -S

Wouldn't he get mutated by the waters? So he'd look different, right?

Seriously, it's not a bad set. I just don't understnad that weird...thing...below him on the pic.

It's repetitive, that's the problem. Titan arms and legs stuck on a beefed up Piraka torso. -S

Who's to say that this really is Karzahni? After all, it could very easily be a mutated form of the member of the first Toa team we've been hearing about. After all, he was said to be green.

It seems to me more likely that this set was mislabeled, since they spelled it wrong. However, as a mutated Karzahni I wouldn't mind too much. It is also possible that this is a prototype pic for which the colors are not yet final, although I am not sure that is very likely. One thing's for sure, this guy will be fun to draw once I get the set.

If this were a day later, we might have had some doubt as to the authenticity of this set. However, I suppose we ought to appreciate this set, since it is an ingenious build, regardless of what it is intended to be.

Then it would be even worse. :P

I agree with you Seran. I was just looking at him with a MOCer/ist's perespective. It looks nothing like Karzahni should. The Vakama Hordika heads will be nice, though.

I agree completely. Karzahni was explicitly described as being black with gold armor, carrying a long chain, and wearing his signature mask. He still has chains, but he's not carrying them: they're attached to his arms. He has Takadox blades illogically pointing forward from his arms. His hips, Mata Nui forbid, are as wide as his shoulders – both use a Piraka torso. He has random red tubes, a squid launcher, and Vezon's cape. Overall, he looks vaguely insectoid, and not at all like the regal, powerful, misunderstood character from the books.

But, somehow, he's good as a source of pieces. Dark green Carapar/Mantax armor, Mantax feet, Pridak feet, and Vakama Hordika heads. It's annoying. It almost makes me want him.

Just another set to buy for the pieces. Nothing special about the set itself, much like most of this years Toa. I also pictured Karzahni as a tall and hulking being.

Great year for MoCists, sub-par year for set builders.

I agree. Then again, there are other options. Like I mentioned, it could be a prototype that has not yet been recolored (after all, the prototype Pewku and Gukko were green as well, so that they would be easier to recolor digitally). Or possibly Toys R Us has pulled a Scholastic on us and made up a name on their own to satisfy an informational void. Although this would be disgraceful on Toys R Us's part, at least we wouldn't have to blame Lego for this so-called "Karzani."

I fear that we will end up having our fears made real, and for the first time LEGO may have disappointed me with a set. However, I would be a fool to even consider not buying this set, at least for the Matoran and pieces. And of course, we can count on Greg to make up a storyline excuse that somewhat softens the impact of this blunder.

He is Karzahni.

Hi sorry for another PM but if you can find my other one answer it all in one PM please.

Anyway the special edition set coming out later how will they be put together, I think I saw that one set would be Sarda and the Toa of Air, what will the other one be like (like Delfiak and Dekar)?

Great being #1

There are two upcoming store exclusives I know of. One is a Toa of Air and a vehicle, and the other is Sarda, Idris and a figure who still remains a mystery (at least to fans)

The red and blue matoran are obviously Sarda and Idris, so the figure can't be Tftftt.

Oh. Well, I suppose it can't be that bad. After all, at least he looks pretty cool.
