I was not looking forward to this entry. Mainly, because there is such a furor over certain people who are a part of the Blue that it isn't as neutral a memorial as those for the Red and the White.

But it must be done. These are the people we trust to guard our streets, protect the peace of this country from within, and they have one heck of a job to do. These days they walk lines both professional and political, personal and public. These men and women have been trained and entrusted to perform the duty of enforcing the law, seeing that those who perpetrate crime are caught, and ensuring that any potential punishments are carried out to the last. Sometimes they make hard decisions, and must deal with the consequences of the choices they make. Many times they face dangers we don't think or hear about, and many of them have paid the ultimate price while walking the line of duty.

I am honored to personally work with the officers of the Texas A&M University Police Department, the College Station Police Department, and the Bryan Police Department, while carrying out my duties as a medic of Texas A&M. No matter what happens in the world, these and other members of the Blue have earned my respect and admiration. Please join me in a moment of silence for the men and women in blue whose shifts have ended.

For the past three weeks we have honored various emergency response groups, looking back and remembering those who have died in the past year. Next week is 9/11, when I hope to honor those who touched our own lives, and have gone on into death ahead of us. The names for the Roll Call are not restricted to this year, or any year, nor by country, affiliation, job, or cause of death. Please help me in bringing this goal to fruition.
