You could say that "real continuation" means "moving the story forward" where most of the games released thus far have been prequels or tales that occurred in tandem with other games. I think the only game since KH2 "moving forward" with the story was Dream Drop Distance, but I could be very much wrong about that. I haven't gotten to play a lot of the KH games, nor will I get to play the future ones =/

Besides, just because someone (like me) has been seriously waiting for KH3 (if only for the story because he doesn't have the latest gen consoles T^T ) doesn't mean that someone (me) has no appreciation for the games made in the interim. 358/2 days is the only game to feature my absolute favorite character in the KH franchise, so far anyway. I like how these prequel games open up possibilities for what they could do in KH3, and how they bring in the larger mythos. But that doesn't mean I'm not impatient for KH3 to come out.

My complaint here is that I've seen many, many people acting like all the work Square Enix has put in over the years doesn't matter or is somehow less important just because of their choice in title.  To me it seems incredibly ungrateful to see people saying all the content they've put out is some sort of consolation prize.

Fans haven't been waiting for KH 3 since KH 2 came out.  They've been waiting for KH 3 since Square Enix actually announced it, which really wasn't all that long ago.  It's been my experience that fans who say they've been waiting longer tend to have that ungrateful viewpoint, and it ticks me off.
