2015 speculation

Random speculation that means nothing:

  • All the golden masks are alive. (They're also really condescending.)
  • Skull Spiders take over the minds of the beings they... attach to the faces of.
  • Skull Spiders with tails (the ones with Pohatu/Protector of Stone) are capable of injecting an extremely dangerous venom.
  • All Skull Spiders are immune to extreme temperatures.
  • If a Skull Spider has taken over someone long enough, then their mind ceases to exist and the body becomes an extension of the spider.
  • 'Ekimu' and 'Makuta' are one being, with positive and negative aspects split into two as the legend was passed down through the ages. Their name is probably Ekimukuta or something.
  • Skull Spiders can 'corrupt' masks into Skull Spiders.

This is probably all wrong.

I think this would actually be pretty cool. It would add a sense of urgency to removing them that wasn't present for the infected masks/Krana.

Sounds awesome, but there's no way that LEGO would create a story with concepts of morality built in.

Yeah, don't most themes have concepts of at the very least basic morality? Good and evil? Even if not advanced morality with black, grey, and white morality. Or even orange and blue morality!
