Firsts
Yesterday I was almost run over by a car. First time that's ever happened.
I mean, even now it seems almost surreal, you know? It all happened so fast, and I didn't have much time to be scared at the moment it happened, so I didn't really get scared afterward. Odd feeling.
Yesterday we were going out to eat, and it was near our house, so we were gonna walk there. I decided to bike instead. I come to the major road in front of our development, in fact the intersection of two major roads, one cutting through and one in front of our development, and the cars are all stopped for a red light. I hadn't pressed the button so the sign said neither "walk" nor "don't walk." I was cruising along at a moderate pace and they were all stopped, so I decided to risk it.
As you can tell from the first sentence of this entry, that was a bad idea.
It's almost as if as soon as I hit the asphalt the light turned green. The car right in front of me started going and I'm like "HOLY @&(*&!!" and I swerve, and the car goes a good three feet before stopping a few inches from me, and I'm still moving forward on my bike, and then the car after that stops, and then I get honked, and I'm on the other side of the road where the cars haven't gotten there yet, then I'm on the pavement and safe.
Note to self: Even if the cars are all stopped perfect, PRESS THE BUTTON.
Yesterday was also the first time we visited one of those Japanese restaurants, hibachi or whasisname, I'm not good with these things. And they did the fancy stuff in front of you, cooked it right there, you know? And they did the onion volcano and lit up the entire cooking surface in flame, and scared my sister half to death so that she hid under the table. Pity, it really was pretty cool.
