Brawl Is Made Of Win

I was going to talk about how I picked up the Mahri over the course of the past week, but then the following news broke regarding Smash Bros. Brawl on the Wii. There's going to be a new character.

Yes, you see that right. Instead of adding just one Pokemon, Nintendo has introduced a full-on Trainer into the SSB series. Using Charizad, Squirtle, and Ivysaur...the Pokemon Trainer will stand in the background and let the Pokemon do the fighting. Only one on screen at a time, and they can apparently be swapped (though there is a Stamina meter that will avoid abuse it sounds like).

Combined with the other revelations slowly trickling out, this is looking to be one heck of a release. Not that it wasn't already a must buy for Wii owners already. I use Pikachu most of the time as it is now, but I can see myself giving this guy an honest shot when I crack open Brawl.

I honestly wasn't expecting that news when I checked it this morning.

I'm a little cautious as to how the Pokemon trainer or just how the Pokemon in general will be played though...

Woh! That is awesome. I sure hope Brawl will dish out tons of new characters while at the same time keeping all the good old characters.

Brawl is SO full of win. It can not be explained with more detail, as words can not comprehend its win.

The above statement doesn't even have a word to describe its win. :P

Which we all know is totally true.

Hmm, Charizard itself would be awesome, especially with flight.

(I'm most comfortable with Kirby, but don't play that often so I'm usually the first one out. I've started to switch to other stronger players, but can't tell you more than that they are pretty much human and perhaps some armor.)

I'd much rather see Sonic announced as a charater.

I'm fully expecting Sonic to be in here. With the Mario/Sonic Olympics game coming, Nintendo and Sega have already shown they wouldn't be adverse to having the two stars share screen time. And what better place than in one of the premier pseudo-fighting games?

Here's the thing though. They wouldn't want that revealed until AFTER the game is released, or at least shortly before. Just like with Melee, they want to save some surprises. Sonic would be PERFECT for this role. And he would probably be one of the tougher ones to unlock. I'm getting the game at release and trying to keep from spoiling too much for a while. I want new characters not already annouced to be a surprise.

You are able to switch between the three Pokemon in a certain order (Squirtle -> Ivysaur -> Charizard). There's apparently some cost to this via Stamina of some sort to avoid frequent switching or camping on one Pokemon.

I'd imagine each will have it's advantages. Charizard will be slow but powerful but mostly close-range, Ivysaur medium attack range and power but slightly faster. Squirtle will probably be a Pichu type. Fast, but weaker still. He'll have the best range though (Bubble or Bubblebeam).

I'm really looking forward to it. And hoping they don't remvoe other uniques like Ice Climbers or G&W.
