Out Of The Ordinary: Mocing Contest!

ChocolateFrogs

Edit: Contest deadline extended! Entries due Friday 19, 9:00 PM EST or whenever I close it which will probably be after after Ca' enters.

(And don't edit your post. Make a new one.

I, ChocolateFrogs, am having a MOCing contest. This one (because I anticipate more) will have the them of a Bionicle MOC, basically Toa sized and humanoid, but not the average symmetry that many MOCs seem to have these days.

Explanation:

Seeing as how the sets and other MOCs these days have symmetry to them (regardless of Kanohi), I challenge you to build a MOC that doesn't. In my mind I picture the Toa Mata, with two different types of arms, so I think that will be the first requirement: Different arms.

Rules:

1) Different arms. Be different in your MOCing and think about the Toa Mata and the Hordika. (I recently tried this with my own MOCs, if you remember)

2) Toa/Humanoid, so nobody goes and makes a huge MOC, so we are all on the same playing field, so that they are all the same size/type of MOC.

3) Basic rules of BBC contest. (But I won't care if you take an old MOC and change one arm)

3 edit) One MOC per entrant.

4) Voting will take place after contest closes (see below). We'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

I think that's it, because I don't want to limit your MOCs except to a theme.

Oh, right, prizes!

1st place: 2 Life Size Zamor, 1 of each color. I will ship throughout the US. If the winner doesn't live in the US, I'll have to think about it. (You'll probably get a content block to you or something instead, I don't want to have to deal with extra shipping costs and all.)

2nd and 3rd each get a "Free the Band" patch (from the 06 AAR promo). 2nd might get two of them. And since mailing a letter is totally different than a package, I'll ship these to Canada if that ranking person is from there.

Contest starts now and ends Wednesday 19, 2007, approximately 9 o'clock PM Eastern time. I won't end it before then, but it is likely it won't get closed until later, but don't wait until the last minute. Voting begins soon after.

Questions, comments, and certainly the entries go here.

Happy MOCing!

Ha ha ha! I beat everyone here! Uh... ahem... what was I here for again? Ah! That's right! I think I'll enter this contest (even though I'll probably win lose). :P

Say, why is it such a long time till the end? :???:

I dunno, I may enter. It might be a bit hard, what with the basement in the process of being cleaned up, as that is where all my BIONICLE pieces are as we speak. But I may find time.

Enter anyway.

Long time 'til the end: Because I feel like it. Actually, I don't have school that day, so I am almost guaranteed to get online that night to end the contest. Then Voting starts and I'll finish it up that weekend. Then I can send out the Zamor shortly after without a long wait from the winner (which could be you, you never know, so don't put yourself down)

I'm in!

Just wondering, though. Would I be allowed to enter multiple MOCs, as long as they all complied with the rules?

~D

As tempting as it is, I think it'd be best just to have one MOC. (Sorry for not saying that in the opening post)

Hey, you can still build more asymmetrical MOCs and start a trend in BBC!

I'd love to see an entry by you!

No symmetry!

"The horror, the horror."

Be different. Love to see you in too!

Thanks for the comments guys!

I've got a guy who fits the description made, but I lack AA's for my digi-cam at the moment, pics will be up before the deadline though.

Here is my entry. :D

Not much, but it will have to do for now.

I'll get up the rest of the pics when my camera's batteries are recharged.

Toa Ketran, once the leader of a legendary team of toa is now its sole survivor. His comrades were killed in the BOM vs DH war. He barely managed to escape with his life. Donning the Flame Emitter of his fallen friend, a toa of fire, and weaponry from Xia, he is literally a walking arsenal of weapons.

he bears the Kanohi Kualsi, the mask of Quick-Travel, and a double bladed sword. He has small devices built onto his feet that allow him to jump to great heights. His unique type of Zamor sphere, upon contact, will stick to a target, and rapidly increase in weight until the victim collapses. The effects can last for a few hours.

Likey? No Likey? Like the books in the background? :P

I still can't help but laugh at those Life-Size Zamor. They look like fun...but they're just rubber (plastic?) balls! LEGO owes somebody in their marketing department lunch for that idea. ;)

Unless there is also a life-size launcher hanging around somewhere. :P

Yes, I like the background.

Which is the main pic?

T, they are foam balls. (With some sort of rubber coating. You've probably seen these types of balls at TRU when little or something....)

Anyone have a life-size zamor launcher?

Ooh... interesting.

I probably won't enter though, unless I can enter a super cool extra special mech that I'm working on.

It not taller than a Toa, but it's very... heavy and complex.

Would this be okay?

Sure, I don't believe I said it had to be a Toa (just humanoid) (pardon me stating the obvious/what I already said. Nothing against your question). Make sure it is Toa sized and, as in the BBCC's, ~75% bionicle pieces.

Well, the body is more of a ball... not exactly humanoid...

~Sr. G

Well, then, if you really have only him to enter I'll leave it open to the other members to decide if he fits the theme or not. (I guess that happens in the BBCCs if people don't think something is right)

Well, I was planning on releasing him later with two others, so if you don't think it's good, please tell me now so I won't rush to get pics.

Please?

~Sr. G

I could maybe take a quick pic and send it to you to see if it would be okay. Maybe.

I don't want to rush your MOCing skilz. If you really want me to give the final word then go ahead and send me a pic of a WIP.

Or you could build something new for this contest.

I decided to make Pohatu, and save the Firebeetle for later... yeah. Pohatu is looking sweet. Having trouble connecting the legs to the body, though...

~Sr. G

Edit: Oy! I returneth, with entry in tow!

I'll add you later tonight.

I'm tempted to extend the deadline because we only have two entries. (Ca'gerin (SP, sorry), where are you?)

Anyone feel like begging me to do so?

I'm working on something, but it won't be done until later today. I should have enough time to finish it before the current deadline, though.

~D

Anyone can place an entry if this isn't closed. (So check back if you think you've gone over the time limit)

Arrg. Excellent MOC. Beats mine for sure. :P

-Varaka

But you entered, and that's what mattered.
