As far as I recall, the show was only loosely based on the books, primarily the first one (Which is where it takes many of its plotlines from) however it was never meant to be the books in show form. (Hence the name "Wayside" rather than "Wayside School")

The changing of the characters from how they may have been depicted is irrelevant. It happens in plenty of movies/shows based on books. As it is, I don't remember ever reading anything that actually specified those details about skin and hair color, so it's fine. As long as it agrees, for the most part, with the text of the books, then it's as accurate as it needs to be IMHO.

I need to see this show sometime. While it doesn't seem possible to depict the books well in TV show form, I may be surprised.

Janus-Yeah, but ti does say "Based off of the books my Louis Schacar". It's ok in egenral, but ti should be more like the books to make it good.

Meh...I was never a fan of the show, and I never read the books. It just seemed to....stupid, like most of the new nick shows.
