Paycheck arrived today. I earned a raw amount of $296.88 but after tax it was $247.48. Which is really weird. 'Cuz Poli, she worked the same job, we carpooled, she had the morning shift and I had the afternoon, but because she called in sick one day and I had to go in early a few hours, I ended up working more hours than her even though she supposedly should have worked 15 minutes more per day. So anyway, I ended up making less than her because she got taxed $5.24 federal tax and I got taxed $19.50 federal, even though I made only 15 bucks more than she did before tax. I ended up making a buck less than her, because since her before tax was less than mine all her other taxes were a little less too, but not significantly. Only federal tax stands out as a huge discrepancy.

It's so weird, I mean it's only 200-some bucks, does earning 15 bucks more put me in a different federal tax bracket?

Ah, just kinda odd. Oh well, not going to worry myself to death over a buck's discrepancy. Just found it really weird.

So, I'll be off seing what $247.48 can buy. 'Cuz tax blunder or no, it's still hard-earned cash.
