So I saw Golden Compass today.

I dunno why they ended it where they did. Can't think of any more important scenes that they had to get through before the end of the first book, and ending it where the book ended would have been better, because it's a nice place to stop. I mean, the book also left you hanging, but everything else was nicely tied off and it was the start of a whole new adventure and whatnot, so it wasn't as bad as stopping in the middle of all the action...

... and they also reordered it.

But anyway... SPECIAL EFFECTS =D Interesting how they've got a very reliable way of figuring out if a person is actually dead. Kinda morbid when you think of the implication of all those pretty bursts of yellow during the big action scenes.

Also, yesterday (it was yesterday wasn't it?) I watched Pirates 3 via On Demand, unfortunately the cable box downstairs in our fancy basement home theater thing broke down, so we couldn't see it on the big screen and we ended up watching most of it upstairs. After, of course, my dad spent an hour trying to fix the cable and then finding out he was going about it completely wrong this morning when he called Comcast.

It was a sad ending... a good ending, but kinda sad. My mom said she didn't understand it much. I was like, "But... swordfighting and sea creatures and naval battle in the middle of a whirlpool! What do you NEED storyline for?"

Eh, battle of the sexes I suppose.

On the note of 3's, we might be able to get Spider-man 3 on cable soon... and I wanna see how that turns out, too...
