Ah, Twilight

To coincidentally coincide with Takanuva's new abilities in the story, after 18 years of life, I finally got to see a phenomenon of nature for the first time: twilight.

I know, you're all thinking, "You're a legal adult and have never seen that before?" Well, that's because that pretty much the entirety of southern New Jersey, where I live, has street lights every twelve feet for some dumb reason, and that greatly interferes with such things (very rarely do I even see the stars unless it's two o'clock in the morning). But today was moving day for my brother's college from their winter break, so I went up to help carry his belongings. On the way home, on the New Jersey Turnpike, it was nearing sunset already. There are no lights on the Turnpike, except for those few near pit stops. Therefore, I finally got to experience twilight.

For those that don't know, twilight is when the sun is too low in the sky to illumate the planet, yet not low enough to make the sky dark. So the sky is still lit up with blues and reds and oranges (and purples, due to air pollution), while the planet is pitch dark. It doesn't last very long, but when it does, it is so cool to see. I have seen picture before, but it's totally different in person.

The only other natural phenomenon that I wish to see before my life is complete is the elusive green flash at sunset, as seen in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. Yes, it does exist, though not nearly that prominent. Best seen on the sea. Never got a chance when I went on that cruise to Mexico.

So anyway, that was my day. :P

Twilight is a wonderful time of day... if it can really be counted day. I think the best experience I've had with it is just lying down in my back yard and staring at the sky as it slowly turns darker... It's beautiful. ^_^

Sounds like fun! And inspiring. I'll have to try that, provided I can find a place decent enough; like I said, loads of lights everywhere...
