Well, its a day late, but I am posting the promised Kopaka review.
KOPAKA NUVA:
The canister Kopaka comes in is a return to form (almost) for the canister sets. Gone is the cardboard of 2007. Instead, the can is covered by that rocky/ swampy thing that comes on all the spring canister sets. As I am under the impression that it has not been said, I must mention that the outer shell is not flush with the can. It sits about 1/4 inch above the can's surface. Once removed, it is also very flexible, and can be bent and twisted at about a 90˚ angle. Underneath the shell is the can. The can lid is like one of those Glad lids, but thinner.
Building Kopaka is not that interesting. He is just the same build we have seen over and over since 2006, plus wings.
Kopaka contains a few new pieces, the most notable being his wings and bayonet. He probably also has some recolored pieces, but as this is the first white set I have bought since Sukkorak, I would not know.
Okay. I want to say this straight up. This is NOT Kopaka Nuva. This is Kopaka Inika. He has an Inika body and piraka limbs. His mask is just fine, besides the fact that his laser eye is on the wrong side. I would also be ok with this too, except he has a freakin' LAZURR BEEAM in his eye! Many a BZP member have griped over him not having his signature sword and shield, but not me. I am griping over the fact that his ONLY WEAPON IS A MIDAK WITH A TOOTHPICK ON IT! This is not cool. Lewa got a sword, so why can't Kopaka? Yes, I know that projectiles sell. I also know that the focus groups love the Inika design. WELL, YOU KNOW WHAT? I HATE THE INIKA DESIGN! If I was ever invited to a focus group, I would find out why these kids like it so much. Focus groups are full of seven-year-olds who will like the weirdest and most action-feature-packed thing you put in front of them. It makes you wonder: Why do the boxes say 7-16 if the people approving the sets are probably on the low end of that spectrum?
On the state of my Kopaka: Stripped of armor and pieces, sleeping like a hobo in a pile of parts.
Sadly, due to his many faults, I cannot recommend "Kopaka" to anyone but the hardcore collectors and people who liked the Inika.
