2002 stunk compared to 2001. Then 2003 and 2004 were good. Then 2005 was worse than 2002. Then the storyline went up again. And it is still up.

Heresy, I say! Heresy! 2002 had a better storyline that 2001. 2003, meh. 2004-2007, fail. 2008, meh.

And, yes, I realize that this is all opinion.

2001 was awesome, 2002 was not as cool, but I still remember it fondly, 2003 was WIN, 2004 was alright, but after 2005, everything started to go waaay downhill. Honestly, I don't think telling the story by easy readers is the way to go. Bionicle is best told visually, referring to the flash updates, comics, and games that ruled the storyline from 2001 to 2003. That was really awesome. :D I wish Lego would go back to it.

In '05, it went down, but in '06 it came back up slightly, and now it is almost back up to '01 level. Still quite a ways below, though.

Really now? I felt that, for the end of a chapter grouping, 2003's story was very dull. It just seems to me that searching for a seventh Toa is boring, even when Rahkshi battles are included. Though the destruction of Ta-Koro helps, I just didn't enjoy it that much. 2004-05 answered questions, but weren't that great. 2005 could have been interested. After that the comics got shortened, and even had less issues a year. Not the best year, 2006. 07-08 have just built up and up, IMO. We're at a huge climax that everything has been building up to since 2001 (except 04-05, which was just revealing stuff).

Stone me for liking 08.

2001-2002: Awesome. Clearly.

2003: Though I enjoyed much of it (Toa Nuva having their powers stolen, Rahkshi, seventh Toa), the no-violence policy really strained the excitement. Remember in MoL when Tahu attacked Lerahk with his deadly... Orange glow...?

2004: A fairly good year. I liked the mysteries throughout it and the stuff that was explained from earlier years.

2005. The only year in which I lost interest. Looking back, many of the books were pretty good, but Vakama turning evil was stupid and far too similar to Revenge of the Sith, which was from the same year, of course. The sets were mostly boring and the Visorak, though less cloned than the Bohrok, had a boring monotonous quality.

2006: Sort of medium... The first half was great, what with the creative concepts introduced. It was like an evil version of 2001 with the Piraka washing up in canisters and posing as Toa to "save" the island. I also liked their Tiki-heads.

The second half just fell flat. There were no cool adventures once the Inika showed up and it was just one, long, drawn-out running battle. The Matoran, who were so prominent in the first half, were pretty much tossed aside.

2007: I actually really liked this one. The story was pretty interesting and Makuta played a good part in it. Downfall was a good book that I actually enjoyed more than the ever-popular Time Trap.

The biggest problem I see was the choppiness. Two books were cut from the schedule and this made it feel awkward at times...

2008 looks good so far and 2009 sounds awesome based on this topic.

In my oppinion, it's never really gone downhill. I like it still.
2004 was the worst, though. I still like it, but I like the others more. Actually, 2001 might have been worst. Mainly because there wasn't much going on in it.

2005 had a good story, methinks.
