Yes, apparently so.

I got a call out of the blue from my aunt, who's big on acting and storytelling, sayig she'd seen me perform at the family campout last year and would I like to read for a production of The Voice of the Prairie since they were short one cast member. So veni, legi, vici, and now I'm set to play the part of young Davey Quinn.

I've got to say, I'm a little afraid, since I've never done anything like this before. I'm still not sure what prompted me to say yes, but reading Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest in all its awesomeness likely had something to do with it. So yeah, this should be interesting. Not quite the comedy play I was hoping for, but interesting nonetheless...

And kissing scenes. Oh dear. Did I mention the kissing scenes?

Cool! Acting on stage! Do you get paid?

Break a leg!

As for this scared emotion you speak of, you seem like the type of person I can give this piece of advice to that I live by when standing in front of a group of people:

Who cares if you mess up? You have no relation to the people watching you, so if they ridicule you, you'll never see them again. Your aunt (and family in the audience) will still love you. Your friends will still be your friends, and if they aren't then they weren't good friends to begin with. If you do get deserted by all you know, you always have books to keep you company.

Sorry if that sounds pessimistic, but you have nothing to lose, and, really, I think you'll do fine on stage performing. It's just the kind thing I see in you talking with you. You're fun and energetic and won't let bright lights get in your way. I also think you'd be good at improvising if need be.

Once again, break a couple legs.

Oh, so you're on one half of the action in the kissing scene?

PS, as far as other things you missed during Lent, we got pix of the summer 2008 sets, but you've probably seen those now.

Kissing scenes? Is there still time to escape?

No, no payment, this is an amateur community production.

I'm not at all afraid of speaking/acting in front of people (Which is why my aunt gave me the tipoff), it's mostly nerves at never having done something like this...Fear of the unknown and all that. And then kissing EWWW COOTIES GIRLS--But thanks anyway, I appreciate your words of encouragement. The bold part is the only really pessimistic bit. ^_^

And it's scenes. In the plural.

*is amused*

Scenes?

Get out of it. Do whatever you have to do.

I mean... Dude...

Or, you could totally freak out the other half of the action, and then she would make you leave.

Is/are the girl/s you'd be kissing cute?

Good question.

The next one would be...is she your age?

Or older? ~_o

I'm not so shallow that her looks would be a factor, but sure, she's cute. And she's older than me.
