I didn't dislike them all (I am a fan of the Miru Nuva and Kaukau Nuva), but on the whole they had a more organic look than the previous thirteen Kanohi (and for that matter, the Calix), vague similarities to their predecessors (the Hau Nuva sort of managed, though I find it regrettable that the two-pouch configuration carried over to Lhikan's Hau via the movie), and often sloppy molding (the Akaku Nuva's eyepiece isn't even round! ). The Kaukau Nuva looked more like the Hau than the Kaukau in many ways, and the Pakari Nuva didn't look much like any mask at all. The Akaku Nuva, meanwhile, looked remarkably like the Hau, albeit with an eyepiece, and failed to look like an upgraded Akaku (it actually looked downgraded).

Looking back, they aren't all that bad, but I still prefer the Mata masks for most purposes (although in all fairness the Nuva masks are more fun to draw, if more difficult). I had hoped the new Nuva masks would bring back the mechanical look of the Nuva Kanohi, and they rather succeeded, though the lack of similarities among the Mistika masks is disappointing after the abundant continuity of the Phantoka masks.

I do like the Hau Nuva, and the Miru Nuva is so-so. I don't personally like the Kaukau Nuva, but it is well designed.

I don't like the others because they seem too large and unwieldy. Much like a sword bigger than the character. They also have irregularities. The Kakama Nuva and the Pakari Nuva both grow larger towards the top of the MOC. Very difficult to utilize well. It makes the neck seem small. The many grooves also just seem odd and unnatural. Yes, grooves are natural. No, the grooves on the mask are not natural. The Akaku Nuva has odd extrusions that ruin the smooth look. The eye slits also seem strange.

Personally, some of the Nuva masks looked like the Toa had their heads melted and then run over by a cement truck, but who am I to criticize energized protodermis?

well.. the Pakari i hated.. dunno why.. the Akaku could of been better.. Gali was a pig snout.. Pohatu had the same thing that Jupiter has(lol).. Lewa i like.. Tahu i love

i dunno, i also don't like them because they're a "stud" instead of a + rod.. so they fall off easier..

Personally, the Mata masks were big as to what I had expected, so I was used to the Nuva masks early enough. And the Metru were big, IMO at first. Things just grow on me, I guess.
