'Bley' is used throughout the entire LEGO community, not just the Bionicle community. Therefore, using Bionicle terms to distinguish amongst the two is fine for BZP, but just using 'bley' is easier when interacting with other facets of the community.

Bley is a contraction of 'bluish grey'. That's the name of the colour.

If I merely said 'red', would you know what colour I meant? Dark red? Bright red? Sand red? Trans red? That's why we give names to different colours.
