Mess Of Life

I never realized it, but it's true. I do actually love to get covered in mud/dirt. I always hated it when I had dried mud stuck to my hands, and I wash my hands more often than anybody I know when I'm in a gritty environment. But I do actually like getting covered in mud. I'm also very glad that I changed from jeans to shorts before 19:30 yesterday. I just wish I would have thought to change shoes, considering that Sunday was coming up.

It all started yesterday when I got a call at 11 o' clock. Previously on weekends I would get calls from her at 11, 14/15 and 18-ish. Weekdays are 16:36 and around 19-ish. An invitation was given to go to her grandparents (for the second time, actually) at 19:30. During lunch I checked with my dad, and called her back at 18:40-some.

During this last month the irrigation water has been turned on. So a run through a flooded field is certainly an experience to look forward to, especially given the fact that you can kick water as you do so. Sometimes at people. The experience was enhanced by the presence of a mud-swamp in which you can get covered in mud halfway to your knees (you should've seen the grit that got under my socks, which come halfway to my knees).

Now that I was full of mud and water up to my waist (darn sinkholes), and she was soaked all over, it was time to show me the cattails which she had been mentioning for a few days (weeks?). Cattail battles are always better when your shoes are covered in mud. Then it got to be 21:00. Then it got to be cold. And eventually, it became time to go.

Shoes are still damp, because I left them in the grass after washing them instead of moving them to the deck/trampoline/clothes-line.

Sounds like lots of fun. I don't mind getting muddy if my clothes are already dirty, but if their clean, I prefer to keep them that way.
