Mi Schedule

Next year I have decided to attend the public high school here. It's sort of scary because it'll be my first year going and I'll be a freshman. And I love the kids in my class so much. [/sarcasm] But the point is, at home I feel both socially deprived and academically deprived. Plus, the school offers pre-calculus and my mother probably couldn't.

You know, last year (2006-2007) I only knew one sixth grader (well, I knew 2, but I wasn't aware the other was in 6th grade). The people that age seemed really young and it seemed there was no one awesome in the grade. The 2007-2008 year brought a little change of opinion there. In the fall the now-seventh-graders seemed even younger than the sixth grade did last year. The 9th grade was much closer than those old-kid eighth-graders had last year.

I also found out mostly all of the guys in my entire grade don't do sports (and aren't exactly otherwise active either). In fact, once Spring came it was largely dominated by girls, moreso after the sixth-graders had to stop doing it. As with most public school classes (imo), the group is made up mostly (with exceptions, of course!) by *removed*s and Nobes.

In the spring though the seventh grade began to get closer. Obviously I found out that my other friend was in the grade, and I began to meet the four other seventh-graders in the band class. Not too bad of a grade, right? They're not so young as they look either. The ones I met are much older than a ninth-grader I know. :P I began to know more and more of them (through association of the one I knew last year, actually), including one in particular. (not an annoyed rolleyes, but a 'Don't look at me' rolleyes). And once I met that girl I was drawn further into the social mess.

So, mostly I think public school will be good. My parents think I can stand the social pressures, and I think it'll be educational. It's just too bad that all the awesome people I know are still in Jr. High. 2009-2010 and the following two years are going to be awesome years though, if I still keep in touch with those others. Funny thing, how my fanclub is always people younger than me. Come to think of it, all the people I know that have fanclubs consist of younger people than them. Well, I guess it'd be awkward to have a fanclub of people your age or older. O.o Anyway, none of that is what this entry was about.

In the middle of this month I talked to the counselor for a few minutes and got a catalog of courses. From that I learned which classes I would be required to take this year. Than at the beginning of this week (Or...closer to Wednesday, actually), I was able to pick up the mostly-completed schedule (pending new staff to teach History and Spanish).

These things are more about eliminating classes you can't take and really don't want to than actually picking classes you'd like. Cross out all the ones you can't take and really don't want. This leaves about two classes per period. Make a mark by required classes and one you really want to take. Now look at what forms, and organize your required classes accordingly. Make sure you take a required class during all of the periods that offer Art if you can (or whatever you least like). Eventually, you should be locked into a schedule, because there's only one way to avoid art and take all your required/desired courses.

1st Period - World History (required; sounds nice)

2nd Period - Spanish I (didn't want to take, but it was the only thing left, other than Algebra I, which I really don't want to take again. They're going to let me take Junior/Senior math :o )

3rd Period - 9th Lit. (required; I'll have this teacher two hours in a row, because she teaches Health)

4th Period - Zomg, yep, it's Health (man, they do the strangest things in this class. Sort of scary)

5th Period - Advanced Math (it'll be weird being a freshman in a class of Jr and Sr)

6th Period - Band (wasn't sure if I'd be taking it again, but in order to make the schedule work, I will be)

7thPeriod - Physical Science (required, but I think it'll be educational)

Note that this is my schedule to the best that I can remember. I put down all the right classes, but I don't know for sure on the hours. I know 2nd and 6th have the right classes, but beyond that, nothing is for certain. I would just look it up, but some annoying parent hid it from me like she does with everything else I leave on the table and now she doesn't know where it is. What I don't know is why she hides the things I leave out. It's just as long a trip to my bedroom door as it is to her hiding places, I'm sure. Hey, sometimes she even goes to the basement.
