Off To Work Camp

(I realized that I've had a ton of long entries over the past few days weeks. Sorry, and don't worry, I've got some great short stuff to blog next week.)

I'm about to go to WorkCamp! The Catholic Diocese of Arlington puts this on each year, sending about 500 teens (Catholic and in the Diocese) to a (relatively close) rural area with homes that need fixing up. We focus on making them "Safer, dryer, warmer." I'll meet tons of other teens as we not only help needy families, but bond with each other.

It's a week long, but we only work for four days. We leave Saturday, have teambuilding activities on Sunday (our crews will be made up of people from elsewhere, who I have probably never met), work Monday through Thursday, then pack up (and have a water fight) on Friday and leave.

It should be pretty fun. I didn't have the chance to go in the past, so I'm looking forward to it this year. (The bishop even comes down one day, dressed in shorts and a polo!) We get up at 6 (having gone to bed at midnight), have Mass, breakfast, work the day (with a lunch break), come back, dinner, then do stuff as groups in the evening. (Like more bonding, adoration, and concerts.)

I'll tell you more when I get back next week. (And next week when I get back I start my job at the movie theater!)

If religious service camps don't appeal to you, perhaps some pix from the Taste of the Town will! (Mostly my stuff, with that red guy being the taddest bit from being complete, and I fixed my space port up later; and my Black Fantasy crawling out of my house.) Hopefully they will also appeal to you if you like the sound of WorkCamp.
