BCii Posted July 31, 2008 Oh, you know: Debian, Fedora, Gentoo, Kanotix, Knoppix, Mandrake, Mandriva, Puppy, Red Hat, Slackware, Sorcerer, SUSE, Xubuntu, Zenwalk. Linux. And I'm running the Ubuntu distribution. It's whee and coo. -BC Quote Link to comment
Israeli Toa Posted July 31, 2008 I've heard Linux is awesome, but not as user-friendly...i.e., I'd have trouble operating it. And I thought I should say I really enjoyed your last few posts before this...just haven't had the chance to say anything lately. Good to see you posting. Quote Link to comment
BCii Posted August 1, 2008 I've heard Linux is awesome, but not as user-friendly...i.e., I'd have trouble operating it. And I thought I should say I really enjoyed your last few posts before this...just haven't had the chance to say anything lately. Good to see you posting. Good to see you, IT. Been a while, once again. Don't worry about the looking and leaving. I'm guilty of it myself, even with the best-quality entries of some of the highest-calibre bloggers. It's just life, so don't be too hard on yourself. Linux definitely has its learning curve, true, but the effort pays off big. Not only are you free from the Microsoft juggernaut (and the dreaded Blue Screen of Death), you're also part of a worldwide community where the philosophy is one of openness and individuality. In comparison to the "mainstream"... there IS no comparison. Different worlds, you could say. <3 ubuntu <3 -BC Quote Link to comment
Janus Posted August 2, 2008 I don't have time to learn the various Linux lingo's. And I fear the result of me + Linux (See: xkcd comic) -Janus Quote Link to comment
The Alchemyst Posted August 10, 2008 I've used Fedora before in the University of Chicago Math/Computer Summer Program... And I Looove it. It's so pretty and sleek and niiiice. [-The Alchemyst-] Quote Link to comment
BCii Posted August 11, 2008 Never seen Fedora. We used Red Hat for Java programming when I was in Engineering, years ago. It wasn't overly pretty, but the four desktops did come in handy. Ubuntu only has two. -BC Quote Link to comment
<daydreamer> Posted August 18, 2008 xkcd, boom de yada! Heh, I use the Mac. End of story, though now some of my applications are acting up. (Note: Didn't get this because I'm a Mac fangirl. My audio engineering course used Apple technology extensively, so I followed along.) Aaaaaaaaaand you're just about right. Hee. -<dd> Quote Link to comment
BCii Posted August 18, 2008 Actually, I haven't used Ubuntu much yet. My mobile Internet connection only works in Windows... so far. I know the fix, but haven't had the opportunity to implement it yet. The Mac is pretty much a must for the high-end graphics and audio editing, I know. If I had the cash lying around, I'd buy one in a heartbeat. Just because they're so pretty. -BC Quote Link to comment
