Don't you hate trying to find good information from a reliable source that you just know informally? Like, a lot of times it's the most obvious stuff, and that's why it's hardest to find: the "reliable sources" don't feel the need to state it directly anymore! And stuff that's mentioned often in the news and stuff-- they never put that stuff in the summaries or whatnot, all the sites are how to solve such and such problem, or how such and such problem should be blamed on so and so, but can't I get a site that tells me in straight terms just WHAT said problem is!? Otherwise how do I get a citation when I put it in my paper!?

On a completely unrelated note, fansubbers are fast. o_O It's only been a day.

OH RIGHT I totally should have mentioned today was the first day of Columbia SHP for this semester. I'm taking Particle Physics. Got to watch a cloud chamber in action. Pretty darned awesome when you think about the fact that you're looking at the effects of invisible alpha and beta particles. For something on the order of 10 to the -9 meters to leave even a millimeter-wide trail is astounding.

Uh, may as well stick this in today's entry. Found a really brilliant Gurren Lagann fan comic. It basically takes GL characters and visual motifs and puts them in a buddy cop/Miami Vice-type setting. Kamina and Kittan are the Bad Cop and the... Bad Cop. Simon is the rookie. Lord Genome is the police chief. Leeron runs a questionably legal forensics lab (and is still fabulous). Yoko's some sort of vigilante, Viral and Adiane also get roles.

So far only Simon and Kamina have been introduced into the comic proper out of the main cast (there's also the Jiha (Jeeha? Jiiha?) village elder and the Gainax shoutout girls from episode 6, but they don't really count); the rest are from descriptions from the character art. The comic itself is hilarious, aside from having great art and actually maintaining a storyline. The characters keep their personalities, Simon still being pre-episode-11 Simon.

It's well in the PG-13 realm, just a caveat, but if you want to look it up it's called Double K (after Kamina and Kittan, I'd assume).
