Because I feel like it, I decided to do a basic psychological thing; granted, I'm no psychology expert. These are just my thoughts... and it's my blog, so...

Dependence

From the day you are born, you are dependent on others to do things for you: this is because there are things you cannot do for yourself. When's the last time you saw a baby devour a steak? Sooner than you think, you wish to do things for yourself.

Independence

So you think you can or you want to do it all yourself, but the truth is that no one is truly independent. Sure, you might be independent from parents or school at some point, but no one can do everything him/herself. People need each other to survive.

Interdependence

When you do things for others because they can't do everything themselves and others do things for you because you can't do it all yourself is when there is interdependency. This is when people rely on and help each other. If a person had money but nothing to buy, the money would essentially be worthless. If a person had a product to sell but no one to buy it, what would that person do with the product? The trouble starts when people start relying too much and helping too little, if at all.

Co-dependence

Codependency is when a person enters a fantasy world and still thinks s/he is dependent on someone or something else where it's not true: it's basically a reliance on others to do what one can do for self. Just think of those lazy people who are the last to do anything helpful and the first to do something selfish.

And that ends today's dose of psychobabble... at least it's not technobabble.
