I live in a town that was prosperous many decades ago.

It was a giant coal mining hub until the nearby town of Centralia caught fire underneath.

Sinkholes makes houses vanish overnight. Everyone but for a famil or two was evacuated... steam still comes from the ground in some parts.

Because of that, THIS town had legislation enacted in which noone can dig past a certain depth for 100 YEARS.

As a result, this place became poor and was locked in time. Seriously, it looks like something from "It's a Wonderful Life".

Also, there's a no-man's land up a derelict, unkept road... people go there to do bad things, dump garbage, bodies...

Supposedly the mountain up there has an impact crater from a meteorite near one of the unused mine shafts.

Hmm... oh yeah, and recently we had a big bear walking around town scaring the poop outta' people in the early hours of the morning.
