Hah, awesome. My brother owns a copy, so I've managed to beat it once or twice...

But man, that game spooked the heck out of me the first time I played it...

Oh, definitely. They worked it out perfectly.

I think a lot of it has to do with how well they made it feel like you were being hunted at several points throughout the game. I mean, the whole SA-X thing of having something you can't defeat and kills you next to instantly, and being forced to run from it... And the music and SFX. That feeling of dread you got in a large, empty room, hearing that eerie tune play that signaled something up ahead. As I remember, I actually stopped playing it for a while when I reached some of the SA-X sections 'cuz I was too freaked out. Not to mention the occasional nightmare... Jeez, I really shouldn't have been playing that before I was 13...

Well, I'm underwater after fighting Nightmare, but I think I should have visited the Navigation room first, and now I'm probably stuck. Also, it turns out that I didn't copy a save before Nightmare, but before the giant spider thing. So, if I really am stuck, I'll go through all that again.

Ah...I love Metroid Fusion...I played that when I was 8 and I didn't get scared! Sometimes, when I was in a Sa-X area, I just jumped out and dodged and played for a minute. It never got me. Just so you know man, you are in for a big shock at the end of the game...
