Should Dogs Vote?

Jean Valjean

:kaukau: The dog of an aunt and uncle of mine, seventeen years old in human years, finally let go of life a year ago. Had he lived up until today, he would have been eighteen before election day. It occurred to me, then, that he was old enough to vote, although he wasn't necessarily, *ahem*, human. Yet, if a dog reaches the age of eighteen, should it be eligible for the vote?

I wonder if it would be worth sending a letter to Obama about. Do you think he would reply?

:kaukau:Honestly, how many dogs turn eighteen? They could hardly be members of the swing voters.

Does the constitution specify that only humans can vote?

I may be taking this too literally, but isn't it more a question of whether a dog can vote, than whether it should be allowed to?
