Interesting note about the thumb. I never thought of that, though would be nice.

I think my biggest problem is it being half a stud too long, when it would have worked slightly shorter, like in your drawing. Good job.

The rubbery bit.. the other joints have hinges, but that part's just bent, like rubber. Freaky.

I don't think it'd be any smaller. You have to keep in mind the "geometry." But at least this way it'd look slightly more sane.
