Usagi Tsukino
After learning the Japanese word for "moon" today, it finally occurred to me why Sailor Moon's last name was Tsukino. It means "of the moon".
Also today, I went through some Kanji with no intention of memorizing any (except the numbers 1-3 because they're easy). And now, I keep picturing the Kanji when translating into Japanese, but forget the pronunciation/Hiragana/Katakana. Examples of this are 日 (hi)[day] and the numbers.
You know what annoys me about Kanji? It's perfectly fine when some Hiragana and Katakana are the same. Less letters to learn. But when a Kanji is identical to a Hiragana/Katakana, and the two aren't even pronounced the same, it's tough. Like the Kanji for "mouth" looks a lot like the Katakana "ro".
