Give Me A Kiss To Build A Dream On . . .

Updates on the life front.

1. So Spring Break. Hurrah. A week in which people reveal their intimate character or something. I reveal myself as an incredibly boring person, because all I'm doing this week is staying at home and reading science fiction novels that people pretend are not science fiction novels, reading everything by Osamu Tezuka that I haven't read yet that I'm able to get my hands on, and playing Fallout. All three of the games. At once.

2. Fallout! So yeah, my sister's boyfriend gave us his Fallout 3 disk as a replacement for the one that got destroyed, which is awfully nice, so Fallout 3 goes on as it ought to have gone. The character I mentioned, the one who beats people up with a baseball bat for SCIENCE, is still around, only now she beats people up with a flaming sword (seriously) for SCIENCE. And for some reason, Three Dog absolutely adores her, and won't shut up about all the awesome awesome things she does. Which is totally cool by me. Hehe.

But around the same time, I found my long lost Fallout 2 disk. Which is awesome, since from what I understand, Fallout 2 was a kickin' rad and awesome game. I mean, sure it is, since Fallout 1 was a rad and awesome game. Which I am also playing right now. I'm hoping to finish all three by the time that break's over, but that's unlikely, considering how distractable I am.

So now I'm playing a Vault Dweller who spends a lot of time ripping people off and is otherwise more or less good natured, a Chosen One who's a bit of a hussy and who works for the Mafia and collects followers, and, of course, a Lone Wanderer, who beats people (mostly Super Mutants) up wearing a labcoat or these days, power armor.

3. This warmer weather will last for a week, tops. It's already getting colder. It'll be back to snow soon, mark my words.

4. Not much else. Have been avoiding interacting with people the internet for no good reason. Going back into lurk mode pretty hardcore, if even that.

5. Osamu Tezuka's a brilliant genius. But you ought to already know this by now. Oh, and Naoki Urasawa is pretty awesome too. Just got into Monster. It's pretty . . . whoa. Just whoa. Pluto is also absolutely amazing, since it covers both of them.

6. With any luck, I'll be heading off to archaeological field school this summer up in the U.P. That should prove to be awesome. DIG US UP SOME RANDOM POT SHERDS MAYBE AND LOTS OF POLLEN AND TAKE VERY CAREFUL MEASURE OF THE COLOR OF SOIL AND SPEND A LOT OF TIME DIGGING AND TAKING OBSESSIVELY DETAILED NOTES YESSSSSS AWESOME.

7. Haven't seen Watchmen yet. I read the book, oh, ages ago. Many times. Also decided ages ago that it should never ever be made into a movie. But then again, I've been hearing mostly good things about it, so I might just end up seeing it. See if it doesn't fall into my usual nerd rage trap. I mean, I refused to watch V For Vendetta and have lost nothing but seething anger. But maybe this can be an exception? I dunno.

Though I do hear that they are making a separate animated movie for that crazy pirate comic-within-a-comic that was in Watchmen. So that should be . . . huh. Interesting.

8. Here is an important warning to all you children out there.

Don't get into a fight with man sized candlesticks.
