That's why Team Rocket wanted Pikachu, or maybe they wanted him because they THOUGHT Giovanni was all like OMG I WANT PIKACHU and he actually isn't

IIRC, they just assumed he was the most powerful Pikachu in the world because it had blasted Team Rocket into orbit in episode 2, so they thought he'd please the boss.

But yeah, all the Anime voice overs on 2. B. A. Master were lame IMO.

Meowth convinced the Jesse and James that Pikachu was what Giovanni really wanted numerous times by telling a story about how his life would be better with Pikachu (or any other specific pokemon)
