A driving permit allows a kid ( ) who is at least 15 years old to drive a vehicle with one adult driver, age 21 or older, who has his or her driver's license. This is to have the adult mentor the little guy newb child fledgling driver teen to learn how to drive correctly.

Also, in many of the States a permit allows a teen driver to operate a motor vehicle with a licensed adult in the car only during daylight hours, i.e. not after dark.

Don't fail it.

Oh well i dont think i have anything like that in the UK so that makes sense. Not sure though
