Light Novels

So today it really hit me how much easier it is to read Japanese than Chinese.

Kana are wonderful things. Truly.

Despite that, however, in an hour to an hour and a half (I didn't really time myself) I managed to get through a whopping 8 pages. Go me. I skipped/guessed a bunch of Kanji, too, since if I looked up every Kanji I didn't know I'd have been there all day. Managed to essentially understand what was happening though.

I wouldn't be attempting this in the first place if I didn't have the background of the first 6 chapters translated on Baka-Tsuki, of course. Thank you Baka-Tsuki translators.

... so since trying to actually read is so painfully slow I ended up just looking at the illustrations for all five volumes (and spoiling myself a lot on future events XD).

Can't wait till this gets animated... January of next year. =_= so far awaaaaaaay~

In some ways reading the original is easier to get than reading a translation... especially because there's so much dialog with no "said [name of character]" to help you along... but in the original Japanese you can identify the character by their speech mannerisms.

Speaking of which why does Shimada say "uchi?" Heck moreso than that, why does Hideyoshi say "washi?" o_O Oh well, it helps...
