I'm thinking of getting a checking account in an attempt to keep the money I get for school supplies and such.

I get $50 for making the account and if I use the debit card 10 times in the first 90 days they give you another $50.

Checking accounts are super useful. I rarely carry much more than $50 in cash on me because it's just easier to make larger purchases with my debit card. And trust me, you'll probably use your debit card 10 times in 3 months.
