The Bishop's Ball

Okay, it happened this past January, but I need a story to tell while waiting for LOST to come on.

In January, me, my brother, a girl from my church (Anna), three friends of hers from her school, and her father (our priest) and another girl's mother, acting as chaperones, all went up to Trenton to the Trinity Cathedral for a youth event, the Bishop's Ball.

We all met in our church in Berlin. For whatever reason, our priest was doing something and we wound up leaving about ten to fifteen minutes late. It was a short(ish) drive, didn't take as long as I thought. It was long enough, however, for us to fight over the radio station. See, my brother, our priest and the other chaperone were all into classic rock (and me metal, but I thought it was hard enough to fight for the rock). However, the four girls listened to rap. MY. GOD. A good ten minutes of screaming. We eventually came to a compromise that every two songs we'd switch stations.

So we finally get there and, surprise surprise, we're the last people in. We luckily got there in time to witness something that totally took me by surprise and most likely will never see again: a hip-hop service. Then the steel drums started playin'. I'll leave the rest to your imaginations.

Anyway, afterward we all went downstairs for some refreshments. Too much fruit, IMO, but I managed. After about ten minutes of that, we six teenagers (pretty much all of us except for our two chaperones) headed on down to the crypt (Oo) for the part I almost was nervous about: the dancing. Now, when Anna described it to me on the phone, she made it sound like... DANCE dancing. Yanno? I've never had a girlfriend in my life, let alone dance with one. But it was actually just music that I wasn't particularly fond of, yet "party-ish" music nonetheless. Plus, after the experience of the drive, I wasn't one that was about to complain. We made a few friends there, too.

At about midnight the ball was over. For some reason my metabolism works backwards; I get more worked up AFTER doing something that should tire one out. So naturally, I was hyper. Which only aided in the... what's the word... "incident", I suppose, at the restaurant not long after. Due to late-night traffic (????), it took us longer to get back, so we stopped at some restaurant called Mastori's. For our sakes, we agreed that what happened in that restaurant STAYED in that restaurant. I will tell you this: it started when my brother misinterpreted a food on the menu, and ended with an ice cube fight.

It was the greatest night of my life, even though I didn't get home till 3:00 AM. :P

Yeah, there's my pointless story. Enjoy.
