I think it's a bit early to tell my overall feelings of the set, even though I agree the current pic looks gross. Clever, of course-- the piston-based hip joint support is perhaps the most intriguing piston use yet-- but gross.

Parts are impressive, and you can see they put forth an effort to make some areas (lower legs stand out in this regard) consistent with the smaller set. I very much hope that the set is at least a little more tolerable in future pics. However, I doubt even that would convince me to get the set for anything but parts. I appreciate the effort of its design, but I don't know how they'll sell this thing unless it manages to give people a better impression with future pics.

This looks like one of those sets that, if it ever comes into my possession (though I doubt I'm buying it), it will be scrapped for pieces probably 2 minutes after having finished building it.

I thought I heard it wasn't non-canon, but that it just didn't depict any super-giant king-of-hugeness. It's just another interpretation. And yes, Mata Nui does wield a sword in story (and in the movie).
