Summer 2009

This summer has been the best summer ever.

To start off, I drove 12+ hours straight the first day of July from Montgomery, Alabama, to San Antonio, Texas, to see my best friend graduate from Air Force BMT. That night (we left on the 1st, arrive at our hotel at 3:30AM on the 2nd) I slept for about 40 minutes once I finally went to sleep at around 4:45. My friends mom called me early that morning to tell me we had to leave early to get on base and get our guess passes. After Jim's graduation parade, we went to the Riverwalk and walked around the mall. Other highlights of that trip include going to Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Sea World San Antonio, a San Antonio Missions baseball game (our seat number was 117, for anyone that gets the reference), and finally stopping at a Japanese tea garden in downtown San Antonio. I also drove by the White Rabbit concert venue, which I thought was interesting, because the entire building is covered in graffiti.

The very next week was my family vacation to Williamsburg, Virginia. I -love- Williamsburg. The scenery is majestic. Walking through downtown Williamsburg was amazing. The culture and atmosphere were captivating. Above all, I got to spend time with my grandparents, whom I love dearly. I also went to Busch Gardens and rode every single coaster. I rode their newest, the Griffon, a total of six times. 205 foot elevation, 90 degree drop. Best roller coaster I've ever been on. I also went to to Water Country USA, and while it was fun, it wasn't nearly as entertaining as I remember. I suppose water parks just aren't as fun when you are a teenager as they where when you were a child.

Towards the end of July, myself, my girlfriend, and another friend went to the 15th annual Van's Warped Tour. This being my first year, I had to clue what to expect. We drove to Atlanta, and as soon as we found the place, we parked. Turns out we could have pulled much closer to the gate and parked for much less money as well. The line was incredibly long, but eventually picked up the pace. The first band we saw perform was Breathe Carolina. Other bands we saw includes Attack Attack!, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Forever the Sickest Kids, Saosin, A Day to Remember, 3Oh!3, and my personal favorite The Devil Wears Prada. I got to the front for TDWP and got some pretty amazing pictures, as well as a video or two. I will definitely be going next year, hopefully with more friends.

The last trip of my summer was to Fine Arts Festival in Orlando, Florida. My friends competed in competitions, I just managed to tag along because there was extra space in the hotel. The highlight of this trip was my first (well, I went when I was 2 years old, but does that count?) trip to Disney World, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. Disney World was cool, but the fun is at Universal and Islands of Adventure. If I could, I would most definitely take another trip with all of my friends back to Orlando.

Last week, I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed. The day before, I ate an entire pineapple, and I would 100% suggest anyone that is going to have their wisdom teeth removed do the exact same thing. The swelling was minimal at best. My only problem was that I kept bleeding for a little longer than usual, but that ended after a day or so. The pain wasn't to bad, except for about 1-4PM the day of. The pain numbers began to wear off, and I hadn't taken any more pain killers, so I was in excruciating pain. My top right wisdom tooth had gotten up against the molar next to it, and I suppose the molar was readjusting and causing me the pain. But now, everything is back to normal. My top two stitches have fallen out, only the bottom two remain.

And now, as summer has ended, I am entering my second year of college. This semester, I am taking Accounting, MIS, Principles of Biology, and American Lit. 1. Not too heavy of a load, but the homework will be quite hefty in Accounting. I'm looking forward to the challenge, though. I'm making it my goal to make all A's and B's this semester. I'll fill you guys in in a couple of months on my progress.

I hope you guys had as fun and productive a summer as I did! I wish you all the best in school or work. And speaking of work, I need to jump on the task of finding one...
