So, I've decided to share playlists via my blog. I'll be updating whenever I feel like.

First one up: Percussion Perfection

As the name implies, only the best drummers are here. I tried not to repeat artists, cause I never like doing that, but there's always exceptions.

1. Rock and Roll -Led Zeppelin

3. Hot For Teacher- Van Halen

4. In Her Drawer- Rx Bandits

5. The Fallen Interlude- Blink 182

6. Who Are You?- The Who

7. Halo- Bloc Party

8. Knights- Minus the Bear

9. Deadly Rhythm- Refused

10. Toxicity- System of a Down

11. Dry the River- Maylene and the Sons of Disaster

12. Around the World- Red Hot Chili Peppers

Where is the Stewart Copeland? ; ;

You've got the virtuosos of loud, banging drums here (with the glaring exception of Buddy Rich ... c'mon, no drummer list is complete without him, brah :P ), but what about other styles? Drums played with an elegant finesse are sometimes even more impressive than the crashing, hard-rock drums. Like jazz drums. A good jazz drummer is incredible.

But yeah, Stewart Copeland ... definitely my favourite drummer. Not saying he's the best ever, but he's my favourite. Here are some of his best tracks, through really listen to any POlice song and see how it's the drums that really carry the tune and set the mood. Even when he's just playing simple backbeats, they're shockingly evocative. Check out the splash cymbal instead of crash cymbal.

  • "Walking on the Moon" - The Police
  • "Don't Stand So Close to Me" - The Police
  • "Regatta de Blanc" - The Police
  • "Wrapped around Your Finger" - The Police

Some other recommended drum tracks:

  • "Beyond the Sea" - Bobby Darin (especially during the instrumental bridge !!)
  • "Won't Get Fooled Again" - The Who (Keith Moon's magnum opus?)
  • "Private Idaho" - The B-52s

I'll have to dig through all my jazz and toss some good ones your way.
