The 165th Hour
*yawn*
I mentioned I play Ultima Online, right? Well, this past week, from 4 AM CST Tuesday (7 Nov) to 4 AM CST Tuesday (14 Nov) was a "Welcome back week," a period of free login for accounts in good standing. (Normally, it's a $13/month subscription service.) Thus, a friend and guildmate, whom I shall henceforth refer to as "Pike", and I had a unique opportunity to create a lasting memento of the guild's founder in-game. See, UO's been open for 9 years. Longest continously running MMORPG...check the Guiness BoWR. World of Warcraft? Everquest? Guild Wars? Final Fantasy XI? Runescape? Ultima Online was the progenitor of your genre. (If any of you want to join me, drop me a PM )
If your account has been open for 6 of those years, you have the option of creating a player character statue. A likeness of your character for posterity. Very ego-riffic. Or in the case of Pike and I, very histo-riffic. Aupinautu, along with Kyverl, Joyce, Kyle, Wolf, and a good chunk of the rest of the guild, have moved to World of Warcraft. (I've considered visiting, but I don't have a computer that can handle 3D clients. UO has a perfectly passable 2D client with an isometric viewpoint.)
Anyway, I tried to wait up for Pike so that we could make the statue together, but I would've had to wait up until 1 AM to do it. I tried, but didn't get there. Curse you, Pacific Standard Time, and your two-hour lag to myself.
But Aup's statue has been made, and is on display, hurrah.
Speaking of computers, I'm going to be getting a new one here at work in a couple of days. I think this box had NT 4.0 on it at one point.
In other news, my heater works. Or, at least the breaker panel works. Seems some faulty ones were installed after Katrina in my building, so we'd been instructed not to use the heater until they could send an electrician to check 'em. Mine appears to have checked out. Hooray, 70° inside weather.
...now if they'd only turn the heater on here at the office.
OH, and if anyone wants to hear KIE play the baritone, come to TubaChristmas at 3 PM CST Saturday, December 16, at the Alexandria Mall. Aaand, if any of you all want to hear KIE sing, you are welcome to come to "Christmas on the Boulevard", December 17 and 18 at 7 PM CST, at First Baptist Church of Kenner.
I figure I'd need to post that now so the lot of you can start making plans to come to Louisiana.
I had more, but I got so bogged down with the statue, I forgot.
-KIE, who lost miserably in fantasy football last weekend.
