If you have the parts (as you can see, I'm not quite there yet myself), then I totally recommend trying this out and seeing what you can do with it. The 2x4 wedge plates form the exact angle you need.

I just placed an order for some dark purple parts (including 13 each of this and this), windscreens, and black System pieces. The dark purple 2x4 wedge plates (of which I was able to order 3 pairs for 55 cents per piece) are rare and very expensive, but I'm hoping to get my hands on a full set of 13 pairs eventually.

Sand purple would be very pretty... but there are three reasons why it wouldn't be a good choice for this MOC. 1. I want to see through the windows. 2. Opaque, coloured windscreens would make the unfortunate gaps in between stand out more. 3. An 8x8 dish is too small for the top hole (I am using a dark purple 8x8 dish for the bottom.) The top takes two X-Pod lids, which are 9x9.
