Afl Playoffs: Elite Eight
Well, we've made it to the last eight in the 2010 Aftermath Fighting League Playoffs. 3 of the #1 seeds are gone, and the 1 that is gone was supplanted with another of his created characters. Time for some matchup reviews and other good stuff to get ready for this weekend.
North Region Final: #1 Tarakavarbiter vs. #2 Mister Matoro
Tarakavarbiter has matched last year's run through the playoffs, and is looking to finally reach his first Final Four after being denied a chance at one by Omega Turtle in 2009. Standing in his way is Mr. Matoro, who has made 2 straight Final Fours, and won it all in 2008. Mr. Matoro has yet to lose to anyone still active in the AFL, as his single loss during the 3 years he has participated was to Omega Turtle, who ended up beating Levacius in the Super Battle that year.
East Region Final: #1 Assassin vs. #2 Sonu
Assassin, the #1 overall seed and favorite to win the tournament hasn't dissapointed so far, advancing to the East final with an easy victory over Terpo. Standing in the way of his first ever Final Four is Sonu, who reached the Final Four in 2008, only to lose big to Mr. Matoro. Sonu reached the Elite Eight this year with a close victory over Dakama, the number 3 seed in the East Region.
West Region Final: #1 Levacius vs. #2 Mesonak
Levacius is right back where he was last year, in the West Region Final. The Super Battle II runner up is looking to join Mr. Matoro as the only two fighters to reach the Final Four for two straight years, while Mesonak, who still has yet to beat what could be considered his arch-rival, is looking for a bit of revenge against the Toa of Lightning. We've heard some reports about "New Divide" possibly being played during the fight, but these are so far nothing more than unconfirmed rumors..
South Region Final: #3 Tahu vs. #13 Cash Chicago
This is the only region that isn't a #1 vs. #2 matchup, but no one's complaining about the potential mismatch in the Final Four. Tahu has a shot at reaching the Final Four for the second straight year, losing to Gorgnak(then known as Rahkshiking) in 2009. Cash Chicago has impressed in his first year in the AFL, and he is the lowest seed ever to reach the 3rd round. Cash Chicago is looking to send a Rahkshiking character into the Final Four for the 2nd straight year.
In the Final Four, the North winner will fight the East winner, and the West will match up against the South.
