Innocent Until Proven Guilty


I know that this only legislation in the United States, but what happened to it? Same with Benefit Of the Doubt. Both seem to have gone wayside to "It's remotely possible s/he did this, that and the other! Persecute! Persecute! Assume the worst of him/her/it/them, assume the worst!" Whatever happened to the idea of trying to be a realistic optimist?

Have you ever watched 12 Angry Men?

 

Random thing I thought I'd mention for no particular reason whatsoever: I did an article on how my middle school was using a "guilty until proven innocent" policy at the end of my eighth grade year.

 

I've been avoiding that school ever since. :P

Well, if you take a look at this, you'll see that such developments are part of a wider trend whereby Law as applied today is often something very alien to its original intent.
