I’ve been absent here a lot lately because my drawing class is demanding, as I write this I should be working on my final project that is due Friday. I have also been absent because I have had to devote a lot of my personal time to studying for my placement tests because I have to take Math and English, and right now I am scheduled for the Basic courses because I don’t have any test scores to put me in the college level courses.

To take my placement test I have to have a proctor, someone who will sit and watch to make sure I don’t cheat. I won’t cheat, but it is required that someone watch me while I take the test. The test cannot be taken in a home location or on a personal computer owned by me, it has to be taken in an approved location like a public library or college.

Today I went to the library to see if I could get someone to sign the form and help me out. Well I went in and I had to wait because there were two girls chit-chatting with the librarian I sort of know. There was another librarian there although I did not know the guy and waited for the girls to get done talking.

Finally after it was my turn I checked my books out and asked about the exam.

“I need to take a placement test.”

“Okay.”

“I’ll need a proctor, someone to just sit and watch-“

“They don’t do that here.”

“Well I just need someone to watch.”

“Why? So you don’t cheat?”

“Yes. I just need to use a computer and be watched like you-“

Then the guy I don’t know just chimes in, “well the computers aren’t available they aren’t working blah blah blah”

I honestly have no idea what he said because it made no sense whatsoever. All I need is someone to sit and watch me take a test on the computer. Whenever you go to the library and sign up for a computer, all they do is sit and watch the people on them….

I am up the proverbial creek without a paddle.

I put all of my personal time into studying for these test and the only reason I didn’t get a proctor before now was because I only have two weeks to take the test upon signing a proctor. However, I need to take the test before April 5th which is less than two weeks away.

I am lost and have no idea what to do…
