Although when I go to play it, it says it's "checking for steam games updates" and the popup just stays for a really long time. That's not normal, is it? =/

Go buy an eight gig flash drive. I think they're priced around twenty bucks nowadays.

Unless you go through more than 20 gig a month, which could cause problems. Just don't stream HD video.
