Subversion

Stargate Universe episode 18, S1, Subversion.

It was great. I only wish we did not get a semblance of clever story telling this late in the season. Maybe take out about five episodes of drama from the first half, which then puts meeting the aliens before the mid-season cut-off, and then this would pop up maybe three episodes after restarting the series in April and by episode 20 there will be some great conflict and strife and things happening, like this.

Yet at the same time, this is great for ending the season, for it will keep me looking forward to season 2.

I guess what I am looking out for is keeping the Stargate feel and with that the classic Stargate fans. Most notably my dad, who is at ends with this but for some reason still watching. This episode will make me tell him to keep it up, for hopefully we will have an even greater reward and more episodes like this.

I guess it is like V. For everything they are doing wrong, there is enough stuff going right to make me keep watching. (Plus, it's Stargate. I have a loyalty to it not to drop it suddenly.)

In some ways, I like Universe more. It's grittier, realistic, and something about it makes me feel like I'm watching some movie, instead of a tv show. I think it's cool how they changed the feel; sometimes a change is good.

Of course I'm only up to episode ten...sooo yeah.

I do agree though, waaaayy too many drama episodes.

Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying this side of Stargate writing as well, next to SG-1 and SGA. But at the same time, I could do with a little more stargating off-world than just roaming the same corridor at different angels.

Yeah I agree--that does get on my nerves too. It sort of goes back to that drama issue. I'm not sure if they're just building up suspense about something, or being lazy/cheap...or both.

Honestly, I got so bored a few episodes in that I stopped watching. Too much drama, and not enough good ol' Stargate stuff. But before anyone beats me to death, I do not get ScyFy at my house. I had to drive to someone else's house to watch it. (Yes, I was that excited about SG-U!) When I was gravely disappointed in SG-U, it wasn't worth driving out of my house every Friday night.

If I got ScyFy at home, I probably would have turned the TV on and watched it regardless, and maybe then I would have seen this *amazing development* of a Stargate-like episode of which you speak. 'Cuz I found the first handful of episodes seriously lacking.

Yeah, I kept going with it and the MOST rewarding point was not until episode 10. But there were still some good episodes before then (including a classic Stargate time-travel episode 6 or 7 ("Time").) Still, though, too much drama.

Hulu has them, but not the ones you missed at first. You could find them online elsewhere, if, say, you were bored one night or something.
