More Minifigs

ChocolateFrogs

:P at xccj. (Though I hope you have some luck.)

Went to TRU again Wednesday and picked up 9 more minifig packs, cherrypicking with my barcode list. One young store employee noticed it and said, "I was wondering when that would come out."

I was also able to help a kid get the skater he wanted. So that was cool.

I picked up a robot for myself, realizing I didn't really need the ninja or nurse, so having canceled out two of my purchases I figured I could make one more. I got a cheerleader for my sister, and a ninja and spaceman for my brother's birthday next week. Only when I got back home I realized it wasn't a spaceman and instead a nurse. So I need to be more careful with scanning the barcodes.

So I'm keeping the nurse for myself and giving the forestman I got for a friend to my brother in place of the spaceman (the friend will never know). I think he will appreciate the nostalgia factor, as will my roommate who I got one for him too. For another roommate I got the cowboy and another the zombie. I also got a ninja for a former roommate because he fondly remembers the ninja series. Giving out those will have to wait until we all move-in to our apartment.

So that is it for my Series 1 purchases. In Series 2 I will get the Vampire at least, and probably the Pharaoh. Maybe the explorer.

Grrr...

I would kinda feel weird about using a barcode list. On the other hand, it beats peaking into the mask packs back in 01 and 02.

I think it's about desperation, really. Or rather, me being a college kid with only a few dollars to spend on these (for myself), making sure I get the most out of it.

Like I said, an employee saw it but didn't care. I would be afraid of using it at the LEGO Store though. At another TRU some manager apparently approached an AFOL and asked if he was using the coded list, and then asked him to find a specific fig for him! Also, to make an impact, if a manager did tell me to stop and just take a few, I would immediately just leave without buying anything, making him realize he just lost a sale.

Plus I made a kid happy!

So did you have a barcode scanner? Or did you just do the best you could with your eyeballs?

I eyeballed with the barcode list. I don't think my phone can do a scanner, though that would be super cool (and easy) if it could. It requires a program which, when I googlized for info, it only applied to a few phones.

This is something I would have never ever thought of. A barcode scanner on a phone.

Neato.
