"Odyssey"

§§§

Mata Nui. Makuta. The Golden Armor. Death, and rebirth. All things that had come to pass following the Reformation of Spherus Magna brought forth an era of peace, unity, and rebuilding. All of the inhabitants of the former body of the evil Makuta poured out at an unimaginable magnitude. Many celebrated, and why shouldn't they? Makuta was dead; never to return. Some Matoran left the robotic shell with the bodies of former friends, protectors, and even leaders. Burial processions were held in their honor, followed by a great celebration: Spherus Magna had been restored once more.

The moment of celebration was followed by months and months of rebuilding. Matoran stripped the robotic body of parts to use as shelters. Others, including Toa Onua, found that they could actually remove the former home islands from the robot without damaging them too much. It took many, many Toa of Earth, Gravity, Stone, Iron, and Water to complete these tasks, but they finished and the utopian society was born.

Once the work was done, a select number of the inhabitants of this new world were called together. Purpose was given, in the form of a search: locate the Great Beings, and inform them that Spherus Magna was once more.

The search drug on for years and years, and one by one the search force died off until only a certain Toa of Gravity remained. Knowing that his life was coming to its dawn, he gathered together his Toa team and told them of his mission. Together, the team worked on a device that would allow for an easier approach to the search. The machine was finished, and unfortunately so was the Toa team. The machine lay hidden for many millennia untouched in the village of Matoro-Koro, until...

The Agori named Dakio was falling down a pit. All light that he could see was swallowed up by the rapidly increasing darkness. He hit the ground with a thud that echoed throughout the cavern.

"Ughh...," he groaned. At least those Tanium-Rexes can't find me down here, he thought.

He groggily rolled on his side and heard a wet sound underneath him. Reaching to his side, he felt a hard, round protrusion that was painted red. Blood..., he thought. My blood... He quickly remover the pointed rock from his side. He felt the sharp pain and release as his new wound pulsed with his heartbeat. Digging through his satchel, he found a small piece of cloth. "It'll do for now...," he murmured to himself, already tying it around his waist.

Getting on his feet, he picked his Lightstone out of his bag as well and observed his surroundings. Everything was metal in here; no cave walls, dirt, or grass. All that was in the cave were some pebbles and...

"A... doorway?" Dakio said, astonished that someone would be residing so far underground, especially this far from the underground city in the Black Spike Mountains.

Dakio made his way to the door and rested his hand against it. He felt no motion, and he heard nothing. Silently and stealthily he pulled the door open. Click.

He narrowly dodged the door as the rusty hinges broke and the gate fell to the ground with a loud Thud.

"Wow," Dakio awed. He stepped onto the slab and entered the musky, dust-filled dwelling. He felt along the wall for a Lightstone Spanner, but he found none. No Lightstone Spanner to spread the light around the room... This is pre-Skrall Invasion Era, at least!

He used his Lightstone as a torch anyways and felt the tables that were set up along the wall. Papers, papers, and more papers were all to be found. His hand brushed against another parchment, but this one was different. It was stiffer, more permanent, as if the person who made it created it to last forever. He picked up the poster and gasped in awe as he realized his find: A map of the entire Solis Magna system. Oh my... there's the sun, Solis Magna... and Murtua, and Jattillus and... he cocked his head. A random blue and green planet starred him in the face. Etched above it in some sort of red ink was the name Akkais. "Wha--?" he awed, still dumbfounded at this newfound planet. Nuparu, Nixie, and Kiina have already charted all of the planets of our galaxy but... I've never seen this one!

A grin crept across his face. "This is some find, I must say. The rest of Matoro-Koro will love th--"

"You aren't going anywhere," a dark, ancient voice uttered from the entryway. Dakio stumbled over his own feet in surprise and fell on his back, laying defenseless in front of this mysterious figure.

Yeah, I decided to go ahead and write a Prologue for a possible new Epic. I still have to finish up "Spirit Fable", mind you, but this seems like a possible new idea. B)
